THE CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS
7.30 pm Wednesday at Salvation Army Hall
The Crusades, the Middle Ages, the Northern Ireland problem are three
instances when religion has been used to sanction violence and killing.
What went wrong? This week 'The Church in the Wilderness' looks at prayer,
the bible and how we interpret it.
Next week : Tuesday 7.30 pm at Atherton Baptist Church

Notices
St
Richard's Playschool to Close
This week
Susan Cook announced the end of an era in that the 'Playschool' is to
close its doors at the beginning of May. The Playschool building, which
began life as two temporary classrooms, suffered structural damage when
the area experienced mining subsidence two years ago. A recent survey
considered the building to be nearing the end of its natural life span.
After twenty three years service to the community in childcare, Susan
discussed the situation with her helpers, and has decided to close down
operations before the building is declared unsafe. Our playschool has
been a great service to the community and I am proud that the building
has been utilised in this way. I would like to thank Susan and her staff,
past and present, for their good work and wish them all God's blessing
in the future.
Thanks
to those who have already started to send in their TESCO Computers for
Schools Vouchers! We have done very well from your generosity in the
past and hope we will continue that this year. Please place them on
the offertory plate or hand them in.
Light
a candle & petitions
If you would like to send any prayers or petitions for the Grotto, please
bring them on Palm Sunday and HCPT Pilgrimage Trust members will take
them to Lourdes in Easter week. If you would like to have a candle lit
for your intentions, please bring a £1 coin and they will light a candle!
