Leigh
Deanery Day - What is the Church for ? session 2
In this session the starting point was the Task of the Church. Three
issues were identified in a Consultative Survey on Church Priorities
recently conducted with Parishioners across the whole of the Archdiocese.
The Leigh Deanery response to these issues has been a careful examination
and refection on the mission, tasks and priorities of the Church within
this Deanery. This session provided extremely useful opportunities to
examine, discuss and reflect on Church and Community. We also had opportunity
to reflect on ideas about Church raised by the Cardinal and reported
in the Tablet in September 2001. The final aspect of this session was
a short prayerful meditation on three words of Our Lord taken from the
Gospels. For your prayerful reflection, perusal and interest, here are
issues raised from this session.
The Task of the Church ~ Archdiocesan Priorities :
*Providing Mass and the Sacraments
*Looking after the sick
*Nurturing our young people
