Notices

Leigh Deanery Day - session 4
The main theme running through this session centred on Ministry within the Church with reference to the ways in which we are called to conduct our lives both within the Church and wider community.
Key Elements
*Lumen Gentium - an important Church document - makes us aware of the one priesthood of Christ which we all belong through baptism.
*All the baptised are called to share in the Church's mission through service, worship and witness to the Gospel.
*Each of us are called to transform the world by living out our baptismal vocation amidst the pressing demands of marriage, family, school and workplace, using our own gifts of the Holy Spirit. Ordained Priesthood
*The priest has the gift of presiding over the life of a community and its prayer.
*The priest represents the priesthood of Christ and brings together the priesthood of the faithful. The priest does this principally through the Celebration of the Eucharist and by presiding over the life of a community and its prayer.
*The priest must know how to evangelise, to catechise, to preach, to pray, to celebrate, to discern, but above all, he must know how to draw all the baptised together into communion and mutual service.
Next week we will conclude our journey of thoughts, reflections and prayers by exploring the issues and questions raised in the final session from the day - Announcing the Future - looking at finding a way forward.
                                                        David Levien
