Heart Building Development - No Comment . . .
The statement in last week's bulletin was a response by the Diocese
to the recent Listing of the Church. I was also asked not to make any
public comments until the Archdiocese have information at hand and the
Trustees have considered the situation; I can only speculate, and this
can then be relayed as 'Father Cooper says' and misinterpreted as being
fact. The comments attributed to me in the local press this week were
actually made a while ago in a lengthy background discussion. They indicate
my concerns and worries prior to the decision by the Trustees to allow
the parish to appoint an Architect. This was a positive step for the
parish, as Father O'Brien stated in the open meeting in February, and
a significant step along the road to a new church building.
