School's Out for Summer !
Monday 9th Leavers' Mass 10 am
Tuesday 10th last day of school before Summer holidays
On Monday we will say 'Good-bye' to a number of Staff who will be leaving St Richard's School.

  • We say a sad farewell to Mrs Ellams who is leaving full time teaching to re-focus and possibly redirect her energies after nearly 25 years at St Richard's School. Many students will be very grateful to her for her dedication and commitment to the school and the teaching profession over this time. Her long service has helped greatly towards a sense of family and feeling of security that is essential within a school. We all wish her the very best for the future.
  • Miss Symm, our Y5 teacher is also leaving this year to take up Law and has been with us for 6 years and seen us through two Ofsted Inspections. We wish her well in her new career.
  • Pauline McIntyre our 'NNEB', leaves to study for a Degree in Social Work. We thank her for her great support and care of our children, and hope she enjoys her student days.
  • Congratulations to Anne-Marie Harrison, a classroom assistant, for the successful completion of her OU Degree and her recent appointment as a Lay Chaplain to De la Salle School in St Helens.
  • Finally we thank Lowri Taylor for her work in the past 12 months and wish her a glorious Wedding Day during the holidays and that she settles well in Wales.

To all a heartfelt thanks for their particular contribution to the well-being and the lives of our children at St Richard's and an assurance of our prayers for them all in their changing situations
On Tuesday the holidays for the pupils officially begin and I hope they enjoy the many sunny days ahead. For those who have experienced GCSE and A level examinations, I hope you take some time to rest before rushing ahead with Summer jobs. The world of education is indeed a highly pressurised one not just for the teachers but also for pupils. Recreation and time for oneself is essential to refresh the spirit and parents should help even younger children to enjoy the luxury in this modern age of simply resting and being still and doing nothing. My thanks to all the staff, teaching and non-teaching for their work this year and hope you enjoy the weeks ahead!

Congratulations to those from St Mary's who were involved in the Summer Concerts at St Joseph's on Tuesday and Wednesday night. A terrific night's entertainment with some special moments were offered yet again by the students of St Mary's. My apologies if I have missed anyone out but my vision from the back of the Hall was somewhat impaired. Well Done to James Ellams, Patrick Snape, Stephen Worthington (who received a Drama Award), Patrick McLoughlin, Sean Bailey, Clark Barrett and Samantha Gorse.
Fr Stephen Cooper

Transfer News : Wigan Lose out to Leigh !
On Thursday the Governors of St Mary's appointed Mr David Burnett as the new Head Teacher who will take up his appointment in January. Mr Burnett is presently the Head Teacher at St John Fisher, Wigan but is originally from Burnley. We wish him the very best of luck and our prayers for the future.
