Please remember in your prayers the family and friends of: Mr Joseph Mullineaux whose Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday 2nd August at 9.15 am. May he rest in the Peace of Christ.

In every ending is . . .
When changes happen we are often left feeling vulnerable and unsure, and letting go of the past always takes great courage. Every change and every past experience however, offers us the gift of wisdom to help light our journey forward into the new dawn. . . . a new beginning.

An Extra Pair of Hands . . .
I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Fr Ronny Johnson to the Deanery. He lowers considerably the average age of the clergy in the Deanery. Although his technical appointment is 'assistant at St Richard's and Sacred Heart' as an extra pair of hands he will have a broader role than the two parishes. He has just completed his first year of ordination and has spent his first year working in the Team ministry of Skelmersdale. He will be working alongside Fr Dave and myself to help to establish the structures so that three priests will be able to cover 5 parishes when Fr Arthur retires in September 2002.

Survive -miva
A retiring Appeal will be taken after all Masses on the weekend 11th - 12th August. Survive-Miva is an organisation set up to support missions with much needed help in the way of transport. It is a specific Catholic Charity and one of the 12 lay speakers in Scotland, England and Wales, will be speaking to us about this charity.

Key Idea
God is a listening God. God listens to us in the morning, during the day, in the dead of night. God is God the listener. God is never too tired, never bothered by our calling out for help. There is never an inconvenient time to talk to God. God never gets tired of us. God never thinks our story doesn't matter. God is a loving God. God loves us. God wants to hear what we have to say. Exploring Gospel values Are there any good listeners among your family members or your friends? What makes someone a good listener? Is it the way they look at you or ask questions? Is it the way they let you go on without interrupting? Call to Faith God is the best listener. God never puts you off, never tells you to leave it until another time. God really listens, really wants to hear, is really interested. God really loves you. God wants us to keep in touch.
